Conversations with minority ethnic groups
01 March 2006 – 03 March 2006, Ireland
This is a three-day event inviting arts organisations, artists who make or have an interest in developing arts projects with minority ethnic groups.
The speakers will speak about their experience of developing projects within the community and within a wider community. Pablo Ganguli who presently spear heads a number of dynamic project such as the British-Moroccan Cultural Factory and the UK-Indian Literary Festival, New Delhi, Bobsie Robinson from the Arts, Heritage and Leisure Cultural Department, Bradford who is responsible for the implementation of the Cultural Strategy for the district and co-ordinates the Black History Month Celebration and increasingly the wider cultural diversity agenda, Paul Hutchinson who has worked on a number of visual and literary projects within the wider community of Belfast, Donal Gallagher who has worked for many years both in North America, Europe and Ireland on theatre projects with young people.
This is an opportunity for art organisations and artists who work with young people to come together to plan future projects as well as absorbing new information and ideas and to possibly link into the next planned event where we will continue the conversations with 40 artists and arts organisations from the Middle East, North Africa and Europe during the month of June by organising a two week arts training programme.
We are subsidised by Causeway to offer a place in the conference and provide accommodation/meals and travel expenses for two nights for 35 people. The registration fee will be 50 euro per person.
For more information you can ask either for Trish Edelstein or Eszter Némethi at 00 353 21 4316826 and reference your call to the training conference.
