This special one-time 5-day course is for arts professionals from the field, arts administration teachers, colleagues and students. Will technology homogenize the arts the way it has homogenized so much else? Will the arts through technology help break down cultural barriers or reinforce them? Create a meaningful global community Join: MAXWELL ANDERSON, Director of the Whitney Museum PINCHAS ZUKERMAN, world-renowned violinist and conductor THE EXPERIENCE MUSIC PROJECT THE WALKER ARTS CENTER THE KITCHEN and others as they explore VISION and TOOLS in ARTS and TECHNOLOGY, critical issues for arts managers. From the practical tools of fund raising software and donor research to the ethics of online philanthropy, from the vision of virtual museum tours and controversial art online to the educational practice of interactive videoconferenced music lessons, professionals in the arts, education and technology will tackle the 'big picture' including: What is the appropriate balance between ownership and dissemination of art? Between mission and money? Scholars, artists and arts leaders in art, dance, music, literature and theatre will present current thinking about the transmission of existing work, the translation of art work into an electronic form, creation and display of work as/with/for technology, interaction, effect on audiences, on learners and on communities.
