Culture, cultural diversity and sustainable development: opportunities and challenges for the Mediterranean

The meeting serves as a forum for communication and discussion of some of the most important experiences gained from cooperation among the countries of the Mediterranean basin in the field of tangible and intangible heritage, artistic creation and cultural industries in order to strengthen intercultural dialogue and social cohesion between the two sides and to give further impetus to policies of socio-economic development, consistent with the guidelines of international organizations involved on these issues (UNESCO, European Union, Council of Europe). 

The diversity of expressions cultural to which reference is made ​​for the conference is the one identified in the declarations, conventions and acts of international and national organizations, and can be exemplified in a nutshell, is the diversity expressed by community residents in the homelands, both in diversity that characterizes individuals, groups and communities delocalized than the homeland. 

The discussion of the themes will be divided into workshops that followed, concerning areas of research, projects and experiences in the cultural sector, and intensified in the various fields of the arts. The event aims to be the first of a series of meetings devoted to this theme, with the intent to periodically check the state of the art and possible corrective actions and improvement programs in place. It will also provide a solid foundation for the design and implementation of new initiatives.
