For some years now, politicians and public cultural promotion institutions have propagated the departure from the principle of spreading funds evenly to as large a number of recipients as possible. Private institutions, too, are increasingly guided in their commitment by portfolio criteria.
Does this mean that promoters of the arts are imperceptibly turning into artistic directors?
