Festival Policies of Public Authorities in Europe
19 October 2007 – 20 October 2007, Spain
On 19-20 October, a round table on public policies in support of cultural festivals in Europe will be held in Barcelona . The event is part of the European Festival Research Project (EFRP), which involves several universities, foundations and observatories, and will also constitute the annual general meeting of the CIRCLE research network (Cultural Information and Research Centres Liaison in Europe ). Interarts will be the local host of the round table, which is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Media of the Government of Catalonia. The round table will present and discuss the results of national analyses carried out by CIRCLE and EFRP researchers across Europe. On the other hand, other researchers in this field are invited to submit papers by 25 August. The focus of the research should be on artistically-centred, publicly-supported festivals which possess an international orientation. Relevant issues include the trends, rationales and funding practices of public policies towards these festivals, existing policies and programmes, governance and decision-making models, and policy monitoring and evaluation systems. Papers for 15-minute presentations in English, in Word or PowerPoint format, should be sent to jbalta@interarts.net. Organisers will cover accommodation and maintenance costs, whereas travel should be covered by participants. For further information on the EFRP and relevant bibliography on festivals, CLICK HERE.
