General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization

22 September 2003 – 01 October 2003, Switzerland

The General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), meeting from September 22 to October 1, 2003, will consider future directions for the organization’s work in the area of traditional knowledge, folklore, and genetic resources. Over the last two years, the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) has laid down a solid basis for WIPO's work in this area, and its most recent meeting in July 2003 explored ideas for future work and considered the prospects for accelerated moves towards concrete outcomes.
