Have you ever wondered how the the arts can benefit the patient experience? ‘Arts in Health and Well-being' conference will offer you the answers.
Held at the Wales Millennium Centre on Thursday, 4 March 2010, the conference will highlight the importance and benefits of the arts for patients receiving medical care and for the wider population.
Ran in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government and the Arts Council of Wales, the hope is that the conference will increase the understanding of the role of the arts in health and wellbeing in Wales as well as providing guidance and information for the development of arts and health initiatives.
With influential speakers such as the Minister for Heritage, Alun Ffred Jones, Edwina Hart, Minister for Health and Social Services and Professor, the Baroness Finlay of Llandaff all attending, the conference promises to be a winner!
Minister for Health and Social Services, Edwina Hart said "Wales is fortunate to have a thriving community of visual artists and arts therapists, musicians, dancers, film makers, writers, poets and dramatists. Their willingness to use their creative vision and skills for the benefit of others is the foundation for arts and health work and we are grateful to them."
Minister for Heritage Alun Ffred Jones said: "Being creative and having the opportunity to enjoy the arts is recognised as improving well-being and can be of some help to those who are suffering ill health or undergoing treatment. There have been a number of projects and events, which bring patients, visitors, volunteers and staff together with artists and the local community to enjoy the arts. This Conference, which builds on the Arts in Health and Wellbeing Action Plan for Wales launched last year, will promote the benefits the arts can bring to both the well-being and health agendas."
