The objectives of this symposium are to explore the diversity of political/cultural relations and the issues and challenges in cultural policy, as they present themselves within Western societies. More precisely, the conference will reflect on the foundations of, and the future of, cultural policies from different countries, which has a double objective:
- To outline the influencing factors, the issues, the areas of intervention from the States, and, above all, the perspectives, on the future of national cultural policies.
- To debate the different models of cultural policies within relatively comparable societies and the current or foreseeable reform methods in this area.
Over a day and a half, this event will give delegates the opportunity to report on, and share reflection and knowledge on, the implementation, the modernisation, even the renewal of cultural policies. Through inviting researchers and practicians from different countries, the conference will also be used as an opportunity to question not only the foundations and the impacts of cultural policies, but also their validity. Above all, it will be a reflection on the future - that is to say - of which the objective is to create perspectives of the future.
