International congress for arts education
8-10 June 2009, Graz/Austria
ITAE – intervention through art education is an international consortium of art educators with the aim of improving the quality and intensity of art education in schools and universities.
To mark the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, the Catholic University College of Education Graz will hold an international conference on art education. The conference's main objective is to encourage innovative, future-oriented art education in Austrian and international art teachers and educators, and with other lively, active cultural institutions or individuals as partners.
Insights gained through the multinational project called ITAE: Intervention through Art Education, will be published in book form: this will underline the key role of art teachers and educators, in the process of classroom innovation.
Representatives of 15 international colleges or universities – the ITAE partner institutions – are expected to participate, as well as personalities form the worlds of art and business.
In addition to talks by prominent lecturers and relevant plenary discussions, a number of hands-on workshops are being offered, on subjects of current interest to specialists in the subject. Information points, cultural events, the delights of Austrian cuisine, and a programme of visits to galleries and museums, will add special touches to the conference proceedings.
This ITAE conference will provide a perfect forum for participants wishing to initiate international cooperations.
