Literate Environments, Publishing and Multilingualism

Interprofessional and Interministerial Seminar on the development of national language publishing in Africa organized as part of the Global Alliance Project: “Book policy in Senegal, Gambia and Guinea”.
To bring about proper conditions for sustainable literacy, improvement in the quality of apprenticeship and its continuance, it is necessary to strengthen the reading environment and national publishing scene in each country in order to meet cultural and, in particular, linguistic demands in terms of publications.
This Seminar is organized by UNESCO’s Office and Regional Bureau for Education in Dakar and the Cultural Enterprise and Copyright Section, Culture Sector, in collaboration with l’Agence intergouvernemental pour la Francophonie (AIF).
