Masterclass - Creative Industries and Regeneration

RENEW (Regeneration Excellence in England's Northwest) is working with the NWDA Creative Industries Think Tank to produce a Masterclass on creative industries-led regeneration. The Masterclass will draw on the experience of leading academics, policymakers and development activists in the creative sector to address questions/issues such as:

  • What are the distinctions between culture and the creative industries?
  • What is the role of the creative industries in revitalisating of rural environments?
  • How do we encourage/stimulate this for widespread economic and cultural gain? The class will provide local and international examples of creative industries-led regeneration, in the context of the prioirities for the Northwest region. The program will include speeches on: The Creative Industries as a Catalyst for Regeneration (from Justin O`Connor, Director, Institute of Popular Culture); The Creative Industries in the Northwest (from Andy Lovatt, Head of Creative Industries, Northwest Regional Development Agency); case-studies; guided study visits; a Q & A session; and more.
