MICY: Motivation (for) Innovation and Creativity of Youth

The Association of the Slovene Fine Artists Societies (initiated by the visual arts education section), The National Institute of Education (the visual arts education department) and InSEA, in cooperation with partners from educational institutions (schools, university, institutes….), are planning a small international colloquium. It will focus on a leading theme ‘’MOTIVATION (for) CREATIVITY and INNOVATION’’. The red thread stretching through the conference will be to explore problems, perspectives and dimensions of the concept motivation in art(s) and cultural education and its relationship to the concept of creativity and innovation.

The general aims of the Colloquium will be

• to gather, present and discuss the issues of art(s) education motivation of children and youth as they are experienced by art teachers, artists and adults,•to explore the relationships between motivation, creativity and innovation in art(s) and cultural education, general education within themselves, •to discuss the role of creativity and innovation for the purposes of advocating the art(s) and cultural education,•to highlight the interdisciplinary possibilities among the art(s), as well as across with other disciplines,

• to promote European and worldwide cooperation between international and national (Slovene) visual, music, other art(s) and cultural education teachers, educators and policy makers, and •to celebrate the “European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009”.
