This workshop is aimed at providing an opportunity for cultural experts and National Statistics Offices in the Pacific to understand the linkages between cultural policy and cultural statistics through the 2009 UNESCO Framework for Cultural Statistics (FCS).
The workshop will examine how to better apply international standards to measure socio-econolic contributions of the culture sector to sustainable and human development in the Pacific context and discuss a way forward for enhanced cultural cooperation in the region. Country papers on the experience in NZ and on well-being indicators under the Melanesian project in Vanuatu will be presented at the Workshop. This workshop will be held jointly by UIS, UNESCO in Apia and the Human Development Department of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).
