In these uncertain times, we run the risk of experiencing national withdrawal, thereby inhibiting opportunities for new encounters, while perhaps bringing out our differences. It is of the utmost importance at this moment to listen to compelling voices from beyond our borders. Artists, programmers, international cultural delegates need to unite, in order to emphasize the importance of making permanent the access to international mobility, a goal which we are all striving for as a community. We need to maintain our openness to each other, build new projects, welcome differences, promote inclusion, as well as strengthen our business relationships, so that we may secure performing arts international touring for the years to come.
The debate will begin with an opening speech by Mr. Ernesto Ottone Ramirez, Assistant Director-General for Culture at UNESCO.
