The Second International Teaching Artist Conference (ITAC2) is co-hosted by the Creative Industries Faculty, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and in association with QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival for Children 2014.
ITAC 2 signals a conference with a difference – perhaps an ‘unconference’, one which steps back from the established format of keynotes, panels and papers to one seeking to build global and collaborative narratives of teaching artistry, made rich by the engaged participation of all delegates. As a working conference, ITAC 2 is structured to create a coherent and shared experience for all participants, rewarding that commitment to fellow delegates, the conference, and the field of teaching artistry.
ITAC2 is committed to the following outcomes:
1. Statements of common practice and purpose. To give the emerging international identity of teaching artistry a foundation, we seek clear understandings about the core of this work that applies across cultural settings, and a distilled articulation of the purpose of teaching artist work. What is the work and for what purposes is it deployed?
2. Projects of plurality. We seek to launch the design and implementation of teaching artist projects that can connect across cultures.
3. Forging communication and collaboration networks. How can we sustain and amplify the connections we begun in Brisbane to build an active international network?
ITAC2 is a working conference to advance Teaching Artistry internationally. The conference is designed for 200 delegates and numbers are limited in order to realise the outcomes listed above. We anticipate applicants from all over the world and delegates will be selected artistically, geographically, philosophically, professionally, and in age so as to create a diverse participant group.
A call for participation has been released, which you can read more about at IFACCA's International News listing.
