South African National Arts Festival - Mzantsi Africa!
01 July 2004 – 10 July 2004, South Africa
Coinciding with South Africa's tenth year of democracy, the 30th National Arts Festival of South Africa unites the cream of South Africa's artists to unleash the unpredictable.
Featuring theatre, street theatre, opera, comedy, fringe, music and more, the Festival is a date with your imagination you'll be glad you kept.
Classics roustabout with the avant-garde, new talents square up to the established stars, sparks fly and audiences and performers share interchangeable roles.
Drawn by the generous bring-and-share ethos, foreign luminati offer their best, work with local artists and take home treasures from Africa's cultural trove. Pumping music, electrifying drama, hot street life, killer craft-shopping … the only thing in short supply is shut-eye.
The Festival is proudly supported by the National Arts Council, the Eastern Cape Government, Standard Bank, National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund and SABC.
