State of the Arts Leadership in Education Conference

15 May 2007 – 16 May 2007, USA

Arts Education in California’s public schools is at an historic turning point. With both one-time and ongoing funding currently being distributed to school districts, we must seize this opportunity to ensure that every student benefits from a comprehensive vision for arts education. CCSESA and CAAE are co-sponsoring State of the Arts: Leadership in Education Conference to invite your leadership and participation in shaping that vision. We must ensure that these funds continue and are spent in a way that ensures quality, equity and access to the arts for all students. The focus of the conference will be: • To share results of national and statewide research in arts education • To demonstrate a range of best practices in K - 12 arts education • To provide opportunities for networking and collaboration among arts education stakeholders and policy makers • To identify goals and broad strategies for advancing the arts in K - 12 education as part of a comprehensive curriculum • To build relationships and educate policymakers and parent organizations about the benefits of the arts as integral to a complete education and advocate for statewide policies to ensure that every child benefits from an arts education • To spotlight the CCSESA Arts Initiative implementation strategies for arts education • To provide examples of how county offices of education are providing technical asistance to school districts
