On 24 May, IFACCA will hold a small meeting for members attending the 2nd UNESCO World Conference on Arts Education to be held in Seoul, Korea, on 25-28 May 2010.
IFACCA members that we expect to attend the Conference include Slovenia, Mozambique, Scotland, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Namibia and England. The meeting on 24 May will enable members to meet their counterparts and to discuss key themes and objectives. Sarah Gardner, Executive Director, will represent IFACCA at the Conference as well as being a member of a team of people who are part of, or partners of, the World Alliance on Arts Education (WAAE) http://www.worldallianceforartseducation.org/waae-structure.htm. During her visit, she will also meet with the CEO of Arts Council Korea, Mr. Jung-gook Yoon.
The UNESCO World Conference in Seoul aims to promote and to reinforce the value of quality arts education for all, in developing a capacity for creativity in the 21st century for youth and all generation. The Conference aims to raise further awareness of the role which arts education can play in all countries, in favour of communities and people of all conditions, in the spirit of peace and in respect of cultural diversity. In consequence, UNESCO expects to strengthen the will to make arts education even more creative and effective in the world of today and tomorrow.
