"The participation of working people is fundamental to the culture to expand," says the Minister of Culture of Brazil, Marta Suplicy.
Before the beginning of this month, 500 000 working people have participated in the culture of the country through a program that has 1682 companies registered as beneficiaries. According to the Ministry of Culture, potentially 42 million working people will benefit from the program.
To the Minister of Culture, Marta Suplicy , the participation of working people will be a key to increase the accession of companies in the culture-voucher scheme . Companies began to register in the program in September last year.
"Companies are also tempting to understand what has been done. What we believe is that it is necessary to place working people in the process. They now have to go to their companies and tell them what they want. "said the minister after attending a hearing of the Committee on Education, Culture and Sports of the Senate.
The culture-voucher project pays R $ 50 for the worker who works under the Consolidation of the Labor Law (CLT) and earns up to five minimum wages. The money can be used, for example, to go to the theater, movies, museums, shows and to purchase CDs, DVDs, books, magazines and newspapers. In order to get the voucher, the employer needs to form part of the program.
According to the minister, one of the difficulties faced by the program is the lack of agility to sign up companies seeking to join. She also reported that, motivated by the Brazilian experience, Bolivia wants to create a similar program of culture vouchers.
