The Board of IFACCA, the world’s federation of national arts councils and culture ministries, concluded today its 39th meeting in Suva, having set the organisation’s direction for the next four years.
Speaking at the closing ceremony at the Novotel Lami Bay, Mr Alan Davey, Chair of the IFACCA Board and CEO of Arts Council England said, “I am grateful to the Department of National Heritage, Culture and the Arts and the Fiji Arts Council for being such wonderful hosts for our 39th Board meeting.
“This meeting has been significant not only for the amazing hospitality we have received but also for the importance of our discussions that have been far reaching and will set the future direction for IFACCA.
“It has been wonderful to reflect on IFACCA’s journey and we have learnt a lot about the value of arts and culture in Fiji and the Pacific Islands.
“The Fiji meeting will prove to be a key milestone in the history of IFACCA”, he said.
Bringing together CEOs from arts funding agencies from England, China, New Zealand, Denmark, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sweden, the Philippines and Nigeria, the Board reports to IFACCA’s 75 member nations, and is responsible for the organisation’s governance.
The Federation’s secretariat is located in Sydney, Australia. IFACCA’s Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, and Deputy Director, Magdalena Moreno, were present at the meeting in Fiji.
