In May, the UN published a zero draft of the New Urban Agenda, which will guide how urban policies are developed worldwide over the next 20 years, and will be adopted at the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) this October in Quito, Ecuador.
Following the success of ‘The Future We Want Includes Culture’ campaign, we have again joined fellow advocates to endorse a positioning statement developed by the Committee on Culture of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). The statement addresses the place and potential for culture in sustainable urban development, identifies the achievements and ways in which the role of culture could be enhanced in the draft, and pledges commitment to the successful implementation of the final Agenda.
