IFACCA - International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies,
18 September 2024, International

With the Call for Participation for the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture now officially closed, the programme development is entering its pivotal stage in collaboration with the International Programme Advisory Committee (IPAC). The IPAC will shape the programme alongside representatives from the Arts Council of Korea (ARKO) and IFACCA, co-hosts of the Summit. This approach to programming the World Summit was introduced in 2018 and reflects a commitment to work collaboratively and increase opportunities for peer exchange within the international community of members and experts.

For the 10th World Summit, seven experts from around the world have been brought together to form the IPAC. From the host country, Korea, we have professor and internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, Dr Jinjoon Lee FRSA (Republic of Korea). An adviser to the Korean Government, Dr Lee explores the liminoid experience of utopian space ideologies through the lens of new technologies in his work. Also from Asia, we have cultural entrepreneur, Phloeun Prim (Cambodia) and curator Pooja Sood (India). Phloeun Prim is the Executive Director of Cambodian Living Arts (CLA), based in Phnom Penh. Pooja Sood is a founding member and Director of New Delhi based Khoj International Artists’ Association, an autonomous, not-for-profit society committed to experimentation and exchange in the visual arts in India.

Also joining the committee are creative agent Khadija El Bennaoui (Morocco/UAE), currently Head of Performing Arts at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, and curator Sarah Abdu Bushra (Ethiopia), co-founder of Contemporary Nights, a curatorial collective facilitating research-based and process-driven collaborative praxis.

From the Americas, we have philosopher and digital publisher Octavio Kulesz (Argentina / Italy). An expert on issues related to cultural diversity and creative industries in the digital age, Octavio Kulesz was selected by UNESCO to co-draft the text of the 2021 Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the world’s first standard-setting instrument on this topic.

From Europe, accomplished composer Alfons Karabuda (Sweden) joins the committee as an expert on music and culture. Alfons Karabuda is currently the Honorary President of the European Composer and Songwriter Alliance and Chairman of Musiksverige (Music Sweden), the Internet Media Foundation, and the Polar Music Prize award committee.
