We are delighted to unveil a new group of distinguished speakers for the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture on Charting the future of arts and culture, which will take place from 27–30 May 2025 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
We are pleased to announce that two leading experts will join us to lead important discussions on the Summit’s thematic cluster on Digital Systems and Technology: Dr RAY LC, Assistant Professor of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong SAR, China), whose work explores human adaptation to new interaction environments, particularly with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machines in creative expression, and Micaela Mantegna, Argentinian lawyer and researcher renowned for her expertise in AI ethics, extended reality (XR) policy, culture and copyright law.
Another thematic cluster, Knowledge Systems and Agency, will address Intellectual Property (IP) rights and we are honoured to welcome Solamalemalo Dr Hai-Yuean Tualima, Senior Law Lecturer, Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, who recently led negotiations for the Pacific countries on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Treaty on IP, genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge.
Aligned with our third thematic cluster on Participatory Systems and Connectedness, inclusion will be a key area of focus at the Summit. We are pleased to present Abid Hussain, Director of Diversity, Arts Council England, who will share insights on building inclusive cultural spaces, both online and offline.
The Summit will also feature many transversal discussions and in this context, we are excited to include Samba Yonga, co-founder and director of Zambia’s Women's History Museum in our lineup. Her work in restoring Indigenous African narratives, with a focus on women and through the use of digital technologies, serves as a bridge across the Summit's three thematic clusters.
The Summit will also explore strategies at various levels of government. We are, therefore, thrilled to feature Dr Hae-Bo Kim, Advising Director of Policy and Strategy Division, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture. The Summit is also a unique opportunity for mutual learning across artistic domains and about culture’s transversal role. We are, therefore, privileged to host Dr Shain Shapiro (England), Executive Director of Center for Music Ecosystems, who works at the convergence of music, culture and urban policy and Susannah Tasanee Martin Tantemsapya, founder and Executive Director, Creative Migration and Bangkok 1899, who is also actively involved with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action initiative.
Stay tuned for more speaker announcements and updates on the Summit website and our social media channels: X, LinkedIn and Facebook.
