We are very pleased to welcome the National Centre for Culture of Poland as a new National Member of the Federation.
Established in 1950, the National Centre for Culture is a state-run cultural institution with a statutory mission to undertake actions aimed at the development of culture in Poland. The activities of the National Centre for Culture focus on development, professionalisation, and support of the cultural sector in Poland; cultural education and increasing interest in culture and the arts; and promotion of Polish culture and heritage as part of European cultural heritage. As the foundation of its substantive activities, the National Centre for Culture adopts the goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda and focuses on the role of culture from the perspective of sustainable development, equal access, ecology, and well-being.
The National Centre for Culture engages in:
- creating tools and resources for the implementation of projects and programmes based on broad access to culture, artistic freedom, and social cohesion, enabling widespread participation in culture, and initiating and catalysing participatory processes in culture;
- supporting the research, knowledge transfer, best practices in the implementation of artistic and cultural projects, as well as fostering cooperation and networking;
- enhancing the qualifications of cultural professionals;
- inspiring and supporting institutions and non-governmental organisations active in the culture, arts, and creative sector.
The National Centre for Culture plays a pivotal role in fostering and promoting culture within Poland with comprehensive cultural endeavours. This includes running a wide range of grant programmes for cultural institutions, training, networking, and support projects for cultural professionals, conducting research and publishing projects, and creating and co-creating important artistic initiatives.
