A strong response which shows a strong demand for cultural and creative courses

Arts Council Malta registered a record of 10,320 applications under the Tax Reduction Scheme for Payments for Cultural and Creative Courses, the biggest response which this initiative has had since now. This scheme permits parents and guardians of children and youths under sixteen years of age who have attended eligible cultural or creative courses during 2025 to ask for a tax reduction up to a maximum of €300 for each student.

This considerable number of applications shows a continuous demand for cultural and creative teaching around Malta, while also reflecting on the value that families give to access to arts education. The eligible courses under this scheme include those in the performing arts, visual arts, crafts, media, and creative writing.

In this context, Arts Council Malta Executive Chairman Dr Luke Dalli stated: “This record is not just a number but a clear sign of how families in our country are recognising the value of creativity in their children’s growth. When we invest in cultural investment from a young age, we are building a more creative and more confident generation which is more open to the world around it.”

Arts Council Malta wishes to thank the schools and service providers of these courses which worked closely with parents and guardians throughout this entire process, and who helped such that their applications were submitted in a correct and efficient manner so that they would be able to benefit from this scheme. This collaboration was instrumental and undoubtedly contributed to this year’s record results.
