A new 10-part video series supporting board financial literacy in the arts and cultural sector

Creative Australia, 16 June 2026, Australia

Creative Australia is pleased to share a new 10-part video series on board financial literacy and capability which is now freely available on Creative Australia’s Governance Hub.

The ‘Board Financial Fluency’ series was created in collaboration with professional board director Carole Campbell FAICD and is designed as an entry-level learning resource for board members of arts and cultural organisations who are looking to upskill their financial literacy capability.

Carole Campbell is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently sits on the board of the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA). Most recently she was a non-executive director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committees of: the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra; Southern Cross Austereo; and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

The 10-part video series covers the financial roles and responsibilities of board members; understanding the 3 key financial statements; how to review financial statements; internal reporting and budgeting, external reporting obligations, audit and risk committees; and insolvency.

The ‘Board Financial Fluency’ series has been developed in response to the lack of accessible financial literary training for board members of arts and cultural organisations and builds on Creative Australia’s investment in governance capability by bringing practical knowledge and experiences to a wider audience.

The 10-part video series, including Auslan interpreted videos, is now freely available alongside existing resources on Creative Australia’s Governance Hub.
