Now, more than ever before, our focus needs to be on changing opinion and growing understanding of the value of the arts. The way in which we do that is by advocating for a future where arts, culture, creativity and ngā toi Māori are valued and supported by all New Zealanders. Currently, 62 percent of New Zealanders agree or strongly agree that the arts should receive public funding. It’s a number that’s grown steadily over time, and we’re committed to keep growing that number on behalf of the arts across Aotearoa. It's not enough that we know that art, culture and creativity matter. Advocacy is about helping others to see why.
