Meeting in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, the Heads of State and Government on Sunday adopted the ‘Pact for the Future’, a set of joint measures to tackle the major international challenges. This text gives unprecedented prominence to culture, recognizing its role in sustainable development, and the need for States to invest in this sector. UNESCO has long-advocated for this.

The G7 Ministerial Meeting on Culture, held in Napoli from 19 to 21 September and chaired by Minister Alessandro Giuli, ended with the adoption of a Final Declaration. The special session with the guest countries and the international organizations adopted the Naples Statement on Culture for sustainable development of Africa and the world.

This month’s headlines spotlight a range of arts and culture events and partnerships, highlighting the importance of international dialogue and cooperation. From international convenings to regional forums and bilateral agreements, these activities demonstrate the sector’s commitment to fostering exchange, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening cultural connections. As we approach the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture, these developments serve as a timely reminder of the value of collaboration and partnership.

For several years, the cultural sector has been resolutely committed to an eco-responsible transformation. On the occasion of the European Sustainable Development Week, from 18 September to 8 October, we take stock of the Ministry of Culture's actions with a view to the ecological transition.

El IPAC elaborará el programa junto con representantes del Consejo de las Artes de Corea (ARKO) e IFACCA, como coorganizadores de la Cumbre. Este enfoque para programar la Cumbre Mundial se introdujo en 2018 y refleja nuestro compromiso de trabajar en colaboración y aumentar las oportunidades de intercambio entre pares dentro de nuestra comunidad internacional de miembros y expertos(as).
