Art and Agriculture research seminars
21 July 2005 – 22 July 2005, United Kingdom
The event features two seminars concerning art and agriculture.
Seminar 1:
Art and Agriculture; generating a new cultural discourse and finding the theoretical co-ordinates and critical genealogy capable of guiding future art practice and curatorial work in agricultural contexts. An introduction to the history of art and agriculture and the work of pioneering artists, referencing the theoretical, ethical, and critical issues now emerging around new art practice and curatorial work in this field.
Seminar 2:
Identifying new farming constituencies and understanding agriculture, countryside and rural issues as the basis for future Art and Agriculture collaborative projects for artists; an insight into some of the ethical, aesthetic, cultural and policy issues driving agricultural and rural change in Britain; documenting artist-led curatorial interventions into agriculture, and proposals for art and agriculture research and exhibition projects, for delivery in the context of a possible European Rural Biennale of Art and Agriculture planned for Yorkshire in 2007.
