Cultural Mapping: Debating Spaces and Places brings together the contributions of academics and practitioners on cultural mapping worldwide, with a specific focus on European and Mediterranean countries/regions. The conference also supports the development of a better understanding on how cultural mapping exercises can be utilised as a tool for policy makers and cultural practitioners, while also promoting cooperation between researchers and operators. Cultural mapping is the process of collecting and analysing culturally-relevant information from different areas and localities for the purpose of understanding, sharing and further developing culture. The conference focuses on five distinct themes: A multi & intra-disciplinary approach to cultural mapping; reviving culture through mapping; the social dimension of cultural mapping; cultural mapping as a tool for artistic practitioners; and the mapping legacy: what happens next? The Cultural Mapping: Debating Spaces and Places conference is taking place on the 22nd and 23rd October 2015.
