This international conference is organized in cooperation with Culture Action Europe – an umbrella arts advocacy organization focused on improving European cultural policies – within the Europe-wide campaign for the arts and culture called ‘we are more’.The campaign was launched by Culture Action Europe in October 2010 and it will run until 2013, when the EU decides about its next multiannual budget. The campaign is an open source advocacy tool that encourages arts and cultural organizations across Europe to get involved and stand up for increased support to arts and culture in the policies and programmes of the European Union. Apart from the cooperation with Culture Action, the conference will also involve the representatives of the ‘Citizens of Culture’ Movement - Citizens of Culture is a Polish movement open for everyone who asks for restoring a significant place of culture in the public life, introducing changes in education, as well as wide and equal access to culture.
The conference will be devoted to two thematic areas: ‘Culture in the political dimension’ and ‘Culture in the participatory dimension’.The outcome of the conference will be a list of conclusions and recommendations for individual ministries referring to methods on how to increase funding for culture.
The recommendations will be presented during the European Culture Congress in Wrocław (September 8 – 11) -The structure of the conference is focuses on active participation and involvement of all participants using methods such as ‘BarCamp’ (user-generated conferences) where the essence lies in sharing of knowledge and culture as well as availability, openness and joint reconstructions of meanings and structures.
