Malaysian royalty dropped by last week to open a new arts and cultural centre for the country in Lebuh Pantai. The centre, which provides information on artistic and cultural development in Malaysia, was established with the cooperation of merchant bank, ABN AMRO. 'The efforts to bring back the various aspects of our arts and cultures, which are on the verge of extinction, are most appropriate and by having this centre, society could see and learn, and help also to popularise the arts and cultures of each race,' said Universiti Sains Malaysia Chancellor Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah. Her words echoed the sentiment expressed by visiting dignitaries and centre organisers; that increased exposure to Malaysian artistic heritage will promote unity and cultural growth.
