Shortlist chosen for Danish Arts Council festival funding

IFACCA/Artshub,
15 August 2005, Denmark

The Danish Arts Council has announced the allocation of development funding for three short-listed proposals, one of which will receive major funding in order for the project to be realised during an International Festival of Contemporary Art to be held in 2007-2008. Each of the three teams responsible for the proposals will receive DKK 30,000 (approx. EUR 4,000) to develop their ideas and have until October 28, 2005 to specify and develop their project proposals. The jury, which includes all three members of the Danish Arts Council and its two visual arts committees, will then recommend which of the three proposals to realize with a grant of DKK 6 million (EUR 800,000). The Danish Arts Council will make a final decision in December. The Danish Arts Council’s plans for an International Festival of Contemporary Art has aroused significant interest and the call for proposals made last Spring was met with a total of 38 proposals that were received from all over the world. The aim for the festival is to showcase the best of international contemporary art to Danish and international audiences and set a news standard for art discussion. The festival will focus on the visual arts. The three projects selected are:
  • U-turn – an exhibition about cultural production and sociality in the New Europe, developed by Charlotte Bagger Brandt, Solvej Helweg Ovesen and Judith Schwarzbart
  • An exhibition about visuality and how the visual is thematized in art, developed by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
  • An exhibition about the Western cultural self-image, developed by Socle du Monde in Herning For further information, CLICK HERE
