International entrepreneurship, trade and the creative and cultural industries have been on our radar recently. On 21 May, the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova highlighted the capacity for creative industries and cultural entrepreneurship to create millions of jobs worldwide, particularly for young people and women.
Meanwhile, at the meeting of the Council Pacific Arts and Culture in Guam delegates discussed the development of cultural industries in the Pacific region and the need for trade policy frameworks and government support; in Argentina the Ministry of Culture has just introduced changes to cultural trade legislation to encourage the international circulation of works of art by contemporary artists; and in the UK a poll of arts workers revealed strong support for remaining in the EU, the country's largest export market.
Closer to home, this week we have released D'Art 48: International Entrepreneurship in the Arts which presents the results of our 2015 survey, developed in collaboration with Dr Lidia Varbanova. More on these stories and related content can be found via our creative and cultural industries topic page, in our Themes portal.
