First Conference on Interdisciplinary Musicology
15 April 2004 – 18 April 2004, Austria
The first conference on interdisciplinary musicology, hosted by the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music, will be a forum for interaction between and among sub-disciplines of musicology. These sub-disciplines include acoustics, computing, cultural studies education, ethnomusicology, history, psychology and theory/analysis.
The conference will work towards the promotion of collaborations between the sciences and the humanities, as well as towards the promotion of interdisciplinary combinations that are new or unusual.
The conference organisers stress that the event is as much about the interaction between scholars of contrasting backgrounds, as it is about the many sub-disciplines of and approaches to the study of music.
