Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Leaders

The Salzburg Global Seminar, a non-profit organization known for its global convening power, and National Arts Strategies, a non-profit organization based in Alexandria, Virginia and specializing in leadership development for the cultural sector, are launching this new series which will provide a unique learning opportunity for “next generation” cultural leaders from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. The goal of the multi-year series is to help young cultural practitioners improve their leadership skills to enable them and their organizations to thrive in a field characterized by rapid change, uncertainty, and limited resources. 

The main plenary themes include:
• The Role of Arts Organizations in Society and their Place in the Community
• The Creation and the Communication of Value
• “Glocal” - What is Global and what is Local in Today’s World?

Skills-Building sessions will focus on:
• Change Management
• Innovation
• Team Building and Communication

Participants
This session will have sixty participants, including approximately ten panelists and facilitators and fifty young leaders.  The young leaders (Fellows) will have a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in the cultural sector and be approximately 25-35 years old.  They will come from all continents and represent a broad spectrum of cultural expression and artistic endeavor – from dance, music, and theater to visual media, museums, cultural heritage institutions, and festivals.
