2nd Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Leaders

12 October 2013 – 17 October 2013, Austria

The second annual Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Leaders will bring together fifty young cultural leaders from around the world at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria for an intensive leadership development program.

The Salzburg Global Seminar, a non-profit organization known for its global convening power, and National Arts Strategies, a non-profit organization based in Alexandria, Virginia and specializing in leadership development for the cultural sector, are teaming on this program which will provide a unique learning opportunity for “next generation” cultural leaders from Argentina to Zimbabwe.

The goal of this annual forum is to help young practitioners improve their leadership skills to enable them and their cultural organizations to thrive in a field characterized by rapid change, uncertainty, and limited resources.  At the same time, the forum is intended to enhance international understanding and cultural exchange and to strengthen the cultural sector worldwide through a vital global network of young cultural leaders.

The carefully crafted program will mix theory and practice and will draw on the knowledge and experience of recognized international experts, who will join panels and facilitate workshops during the gathering in Salzburg.  In advance of the session, the participants will begin setting the context by sharing information about their organizations and their own sets of challenges via an online platform.

The young leaders are emerging leaders in their fields and will have a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in the cultural sector and be approximately 25-35 years old.  They will come from all continents and represent a broad spectrum of cultural expression and artistic endeavor – from dance, music, and theater to visual media, museums, cultural heritage institutions, and festivals. Participants are selected – through an application and nomination process – to bring a diversity of professional knowledge, experience and focus as well as regional, cultural and gender diversity.

The deadline for registrations is September 10, 2013.
