Representatives from two key Russian and Arab organisations have met to accelerate discussions on the cultural relationship between the two spheres. A working session to table new strategies and assess existing partnerships was recently facilitated by Mr. Mongi Bousnina, General Manager of the Arab Organisation for Education, Culture and Sciences (ALESCO) in Tunis. Bousnina was joined by a delegation from the Institute of Eastern Studies attached to the Russian Academy of Sciences, chaired by Pr Rostislav Rybakov, the Director of the Institute. Dialogue addressed measures to consolidate the reciprocal relationship between Arabic and Russian cultures and to forge new pathways of opportunity. The two parties deliberated upon a detailed program of co-operation and partnership between ALESCO and the Institute of Eastern Studies, with the specific aim of promoting Arabo-Islamic culture in Russia and the benefits to be gained by a long-term alliance.
