IFACCA,
02 October 2008, Portugal

Diane Dodd, IFACCA's European liaison officer, attended the 3rd Foundations and Networks International Workshop, held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 2-4 October 2008.

The meeting, an initiative of Fondazione Fitzcarraldo and IETM was hosted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, with support from IFACCA, the HIVOS Foundation and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation.

The aim of the workshop was to advance and develop understanding between foundations and networks about the role of the arts in trans-national cultural co-operation. The workshop is the third step of a dialogue started in Rio de Janeiro in 2006.

The meeting brought together around 40 delegates from Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Australia and provided a platform for a frank and informal moment of discussion among foundations and cultural networks.

The 2008 edition offered an opportunity to learn about existing collaborative working partnerships between foundations and networks, in order to understand and to discuss the processes, the partnership models, the opportunities and the problems as well as the evaluation criteria chosen.
