Ministry of Culture launches the training course “From Talent to Creativity”

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in collaboration with the Dubai Folk Theatre, launched on Sunday, June 8, 2014, a specialized training course entitled (From Talent to Creativity) in the presence of a group of artists, in the period between 8 to 24 June in the Dubai Folk Theatre.

The workshop will be held under the supervision of the artist Abdullah Saleh and the theatrical director Mohammed Saeed Al Salti from the theater department in the ministry, with the participation of about 20 trainees, aged between 15 and 25 years including amateurs and professionals in theatrical work.

The training taking place over the course of three weeks includes a number of themes; the first week of the workshop is an open meeting for the trainees to get to know each other and to get oriented with their theatrical talents and creativity. The lecturer then defines the definition of talent and creativity and their importance. The first week is concluded by hosting a theatrical artist who speaks about the importance of talent and creativity of theatrical artists.

The second week of the workshop concentrates on the discovery of talent among trainees and giving them the opportunity to show their creativity through continuous reading in theatrical culture, focusing on narrating and importance of pronunciation, improvisation and theatrical culture.

The workshop is then concluded in the third week which deals with the focus on talented actors each depending on their role and trying to expose them to advanced stages of creativity in theatrical performance and enable them to address the public through the product of the workshop.

On his part, Walid Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of Heritage and Arts, welcomed the participants and thanked them for joining the workshop which comes in implementation of the objectives of the plan of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in its eagerness to attract creative talents through the establishment of cultural activities, specialized to preserve the cultural heritage in the field of theatrical drama.

Alzaabi added that the ministry, through organizing such artistic workshops specialized in theatrical art, seeks to stimulate the potential of young people and embrace and encourage their talents, pointing out that the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development puts all its capabilities and expertise in the field of theater accessible to the participants in various courses and workshops by the culture and arts sector, in order to move them from being amateurs to being professionals
