Opening of the 2nd edition of the Craft Fair of Islands-Sous-le-Vent

The minister in charge of culture, Heremoana Maamaatuaiahutapu, participated on Tuesday morning, the official opening of the 2nd edition of the Craft Fair Islands Sous-le-Vent in the lobby of the Assembly of French Polynesia.

 

From 29 March to 10 April 2016, the Assembly of French Polynesia welcomes indeed the second exhibition of the Leeward Islands organized by the Organizing Committee of craft exhibition Leeward Islands, chaired by Rosina Mou Fat.

 

Supported by the Presidency of French Polynesia and the traditional crafts of Service, this event welcomes nearly thirty craftsmen from Raiatea, Taha'a, Huahine and Maupiti.

 

The theme this year is "Te Hotu Rau No. Raromatai" (the wonders of the Leeward Islands), including as animations, tifaifai of making contests, shell ornaments, wreaths of vegetable fiber, of "  more  " supplemented by a belt to decorate local raw materials.

 

Wednesday, 30 March, at the election of "Mama Rima'i No. Raromatai" candidates present a  orero  followed by a parade in local dress. During the two weeks of exposure, artisans offer training workshops to craft trades.
