During the week of 20–24 June the Executive Director of IFACCA, Sarah Gardner, participated in three key meetings in Gwangju, South Korea, including
- The Asia Culture Forum, held on 21 June at the Asia Culture Centre
- the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting of Ministers of Culture, and
- a meeting of the Presidential Committee for the Asia Culture Centre.
At the Asia Culture Forum, Ms Gardner presented within the session The Future of the Culture Industry, and her presentation was entitled 'Artistic innovation and the culture industry: Some global policy trends'. Other speakers the Forum included Matsuura Koichiro, Charles Landry, Masayuki Sasaki, Heng Chye Kiang, Kim Uchang and Wohn Kwangyun.
The 7th Asia-Europe Meeting of Ministers of Culture (ASEM) took place from 22–24 June, and the theme of the meeting was Culture and Creative Economy. As part of the conference, the Asia-Europe Foundation organised a policy panel to channel civil society inputs into the Ministerial meeting, entitled Culture and the Creative Economy: What Opportunities for Asia-Europe Exchange and Collaboration? The next ASEM meeting will take place in 2018, and Bulgaria has been chosen as the host country.
On 24 June, Ms Gardner also attended the annual meeting of the Presidential Committee for the Asia Culture Centre, in her capacity as a committee member.
