Hieon San Hwang has been appointed as Chair and CEO of Arts Council Korea (ARKO). His inauguration ceremony was held on 1 December 2017.

He has previously been a professor at Korea University in Seoul, specialising in literature and French language. He has also taught at Kyungnam University and Kangwon National University.
