As a result of this, funding has been allocated by the Arts Council of Wales to enable a Wales presence at the Biennale 2003.In support of the initiative, the Director of the National Museum & Gallery of Wales has agreed to chair a steering committee comprising project partners, representative(s) from Visual Arts Galleries of Wales and visual artist(s). The committee will establish the immediate and long-term aims of the project and ensure that these are met through the project management. The committee will also oversee artist selection procedures. The commissioner will work to this committee. An exhibition venue in Venice has already been identified, together with an agent in Venice who will assist in co-ordinating the event, under the management of the commissioner. The agent has been kept informed of project developments to date.
