Pratt Fine Arts Center is Seattle''s Studio for the Visual Arts. Located in Seattle''s Central District, Pratt Fine Arts Center offers year-round educational and artistic programs including classes, workshops and studio equipment access in glass, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, metalsmithing and more. Founded in 1970, Pratt currently operates on a budget of $2.4 million, employs approximately 20 full-time and 12 part-time staff. Following a seven-year planning process, Pratt has now embarked on a capital project to enlarge its current facility. Pratt recently purchased a block section of the former Wonder Bread property located directly across the street from Pratt and is now undertaking a $21 million capital campaign to expand its facility and build an endowment. Position Summary The Managing Director works as a co-leader with the Executive Director to steward the mission and programs of Pratt. Both the Executive Director and the Managing Director report directly to the Board of Directors. The Managing Director is being hired to oversee the administrative and financial plans and operations of the organization to ensure its health and capacity, so that the Executive Director can focus his attention on the Capital Campaign and New Facility Project. The Managing Director supervises five senior staff members, including the Business Manager and the Directors of Development, Facility, Programs and Operations, and an Administrative Assistant. Duties Include * Planning Works with the Executive Director to guide the evolving strategic direction of programs and operations, including adjustments made in response to external and internal conditions. * Budget and Finance Manages Pratt''s resources to meet short- and long-term programmatic and budget goals. Accurately represents the operating needs of Pratt to the Board of Directors and ensures that budget goals are met and expenses paid in a timely manner. * Staff Oversight Manages, cultivates and supports a first-rate team of senior managers. Communicates and clarifies management objectives and policies, and individual roles and responsibilities. Fosters an atmosphere of mutual support in order to maintain high morale. Oversees human resources aspects of the organization. * Board Relations Supports the efforts of an active Board of Directors, focusing on areas related to the programs and business of the organization. Helps to keep board committees strategically oriented to annual and long-range goals, current situation, and future needs. * Fund Development Supports the Development Director in planning and implementing an annual fund-raising plan with strategic activities across the broad base of funding sources individuals, corporations, foundations, public sector, fund-raising events. * Infrastructure Works in partnership with the Facility Director to oversee Pratt''s existing facility, including assessing space needs, maintaining and acquiring office and studio fixtures and equipment, and upgrading technology. * Community Relations Represents Pratt in the professional and general community at selected meetings and events. Works with the Executive Director and other staff to develop a plan and implement strategies to broaden community awareness of Pratt. The qualified candidate will have minimum three years'' non-profit/arts management experience, including * Track record in all aspects of financial and organizational management, including fund development. * Experience in community relations and marketing. * High-level organizational skills, including the ability to set and complete goals and manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills, and computer proficiency.
