This is a management position at New York''s largest not-for-profit theater. Candidates must be self-starting and detail-oriented with a background in education and theater/performing arts. Experience working with a public school system and familiarity with education curriculum guidelines are desirable. For the last 10 years, LCT''s "Open Stages" education program has served high school and middle school students and teachers in the New York City public school system with an emphasis on teacher development. This season, over 2000 students and 100 teachers from 26 schools are participating in the program, which includes teacher training, classroom activities and school trips to see productions. High school students in the program see plays produced by LCT; intermediate school students see a Shakespeare play preformed by 3rd year acting students from LCT''s neighbor, the Juilliard School. Current job responsibilities include 1) organizing teacher training workshops throughout the year; 2) making visits to schools and meeting with school administrators; 3) planning theater-related classroom projects and developing materials; 4) supervising students'' attendance at LCT and Juilliard productions; 5) writing program reports and evaluations; 6) recruiting schools to participate in the "Open Stages" program; 7) participating in fundraising activities for the program including donor events; The Director also oversees program budgeting, payroll preparation, ordering of books and supplies, and handling student ticket reservations. The Director of Education reports to Artistic Director Andr Bishop, coordinates activities with other staff departments and works with the Education Committee of LCT''s Board of Directors.
