National Theatre of Scotland seeks Chairperson

Scottish Arts Council (SAC) has announced that it is seeking to appoint an inaugural Chairperson for the new flagship National Theatre of Scotland. SAC Chairman James Boyle, notes that the post offers a chance to 'do good for Scotland and for the arts at home and abroad,' with the selection panel seeking to appoint someone with high-level organisational experience, leadership, business planning skills, and a commitment to the arts and cultural issues. The Chairperson will be responsible for representing the theatre to the public, media, the wider arts community, politicians and funders, and will support the Creative Director and the board in delivering the vision, productions and surrounding program of activity for the National Theatre of Scotland. Donald Smith, Chair of the Steering Group formed to plan the implementation of the theatre, has indicated that the Chairperson will be expected to provide 'outstanding and visionary leadership for the theatre and its board.' Expressions of interest for the post should be lodged with the Director of the Scottish Arts Council, Dr Donald Smith, by July 5, with interviews to be held in August.
