Major arts organization located in southern New Jersey is seeking an energetic and experienced arts educator interested in working with creative colleagues in a collaborative environment. Working with the Center's Artistic Director, the Director of Educational Programs will be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the Center's community and public school arts outreach programs, and will serve as key liaison between the Center and participating schools and community members and groups. The ideal candidate will be up to date on current educational practices and evaluation and assessment techniques. He/she will work with educators and artists to strengthen school arts outreach programs in accordance with NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards in the Visual and Performing Arts (and other applicable standards and goals). Must be able to work effectively with teachers and administrators in urban and rural school settings and with community members in a rural setting to promote the Center as a vital educational and cultural resource. With the completion of a new fine arts building at the Center, the Director of Education will also work with staff to explore and develop on-site educational programs in the arts for students, teachers and/or youth and adult community members in the region, with possibilities ranging from classes, workshops, after-school programs, teacher training, etc. The Director of Education will also represent the Center in regional arts education efforts and participate actively as a member of the Education Committee of the South Jersey Cultural Alliance. Master''s degree in arts education or related field, plus previous minimum 3 years experience working with educational programming in an arts organization. This position requires excellent verbal, written and organizational skills, the ability to self-start and coordinate multiple tasks. Strong computer skills required (Word, Excel and database experience) in a MAC environment.
