Founded by Philip Glass, Eleanor Sandresky and Lisa Bielawa, MUSIC AT THE ANTHOLOGY (MATA) seeks applications for a Managing Director. The position is full-time and reports to the Artistic Directors and Board personnel committee. A 6-year-old dynamic New York City-based non-profit music organization, MATA commissions compositions and launches them at an annual festival that features established musicians and ensembles from around the world. MATA also collaborates with other arts organizations and presenters to give the broadest possible visibility to its artists. As the sole full-time employee, the Managing Director will be responsible for fundraising, including grant research, development of long term and annual plans, communicating with various types of funders and working with Board members to plan benefit events. Other duties will include maintaining a full-time office, managing a $200K annual budget, accounts payable and receivable, contract negotiations, database maintenance in Filemaker, Festival logistics and interfacing with Festival staff, press coordinator, accountant, graphic designer, Board of Directors, volunteers and interns. The desirable candidate will be a well-organized communicator with extensive fundraising experience. Additional qualities for this position include excellent writing skills, extensive grant-writing experience, day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Pro 4, responsible financial management skills, budgeting in Excel, Macintosh competency or willingness and ability to learn, knowledge of concert administration, publicity and promotion. Salary $35K. Flexible hours. Start September 1, 2002.
