The Executive Director is the administrative head of all areas of the museum responsible for researching, planning, implementing, coordinating and managing its yearly activities, its long range goals and articulating its immediate and projected vision to a broad constituency. Specific Responsibilities include Budget and personnel management; fundraising leadership; development and supervision of programs; development of goals and implementation of the mission. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees on all aspects of the museum1s profile and activities. Qualifications A minimum of three years of arts administrative experience is preferred, with demonstrated results in developing financial resources for a nonprofit organization; a success record in administration, including development and management of budgets and personnel; excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work effectively with a diverse constituency (i.e., staff, board, artists, corporate, governmental and individual funders as well as the general public) knowledge of exhibition planning and presentation and a strong working knowledge of the Atlanta metro area (particularly its artistic as well as its funding profile). Knowledge and understanding of the visual art contributions of individuals and groups in the African Diaspora and the role that the museum can play in the context of the Atlanta community and beyond is also essential. Strong educational experiences and training in art/business/administration or related leadership fields is critical.
